Why lead-acid

Why lead-acid for your OEM program

Lead-acid is a 150-year-old supply chain, and starting batteries ship as Class 8 (corrosive) dangerous goods — UN 2794 / UN 2800 — not Class 9 like lithium cells. For importers the compliance is well-established, and the key difference versus lithium is that lead-acid requires no UN 38.3 test report.

Before you source

What do OEM buyers need to know before sourcing?

Name the standard and model

Do not just ask for “a battery”. JIS, DIN and BCI are different case sizes and terminal layouts — they are not interchangeable.

CCA is test-method dependent

A JIS CCA (−15°C) and an EN CCA (−18°C) are different numbers for the same battery. Confirm the basis before comparing quotes.

MOQ follows the container

One 20ft container is the typical minimum. Mixing models into one container keeps unit cost down.
